Dress to Decor: Romantic Flair

clothing, shoes, clutch / necklace

Happy Friday, Loves! My make up brushes are lined up and ready to go. Tonight my daughter has her prom. The dress has been altered, limo reserved, hair appointment scheduled, nails have been done, and alas, the checking account depleted.  If only I could just retreat to this girl-haven of a bedroom after the limo is on it's merry way. I would be accompanied by a steaming cup of tea and Fifty Shades of Grey. I bought the book to see what all the hype was about. Although, it's not the best-written book, I'll admit it is a definite page-turner. Have you read it? Thoughts?

I am excited to announce The Inspired Print Shop is now up and running! My shop features GiclĂ©e prints and note cards of my original photography. The photography tells a tale of my insatiable wanderlust and need to explore beautiful places. Photos of Paris, Nantucket Island, California and my hometown are all available and more note cards are already in the works!

Happy Friday, Everyone! I love a bit of personality. A fun scarf, a fabulous print, an interesting wall covering, even a bright yellow chair... anything that adds character and interest is great in my book! The adorable ice bucket is available at Zhush!

The inspiration: Beauty and brains, meet tradition and chic.

Smart is the new sexy. There is something so appealing about a girl with a brain. Sure, beauty is always noticed and appreciated, but as we all know, it's fleeting. There is something sexy and chic about these smart interiors too. Traditional but not lacking in character. These rooms have depth and personality and are not designed just to serve as eye candy. Are you in touch with your inner geek?

Dress to Decor: Wild & Refined

The inspiration: A walk on wild side. Fun, funky accents balanced by elements that are refined.

I love how a great handbag, pair of shoes, scarf, or belt, in a fabulous animal print can add a bit of edge to an otherwise refined outfit. One small accessory can make such a statement and add instant fun, flair and funkiness.

One day I ventured out to get some appropriate footwear to wear to my son's football games. I left the store with the cutest pair of mohair cheetah flats. Not really football attire, but they spoke to the creative girl inside of me who is always trying to claw her way out. Who says football Moms can't be fashionable?

Is your style more wild or refined?

Dress to Decor: Beachy Cottage

The inspiration: Summertime hues reminiscent of aquamarine ocean waters, mixed with cottage style living.

"At the beach, life is different. A day moves not from hour to hour but leaps from mood to moment. We go with the currents, plan around the tides, follow the sun."    ~ Sandy Gingras

I love this quote. It is so very true for me. There is something so serene about being near the ocean. I would love to spend an entire summer in a simple shingled cottage. I would spend my days collecting shells, reading books, riding my bicycle, and meditating on what is important in life. Care to join me?

I am guest posting over at Twirling Clare today where I am sharing some romantic inspiration!

Dress to Decor: Pattern Play & Winner Announcement

The inspiration: A bouquet of patterns.... gingham, stripes and polka dots mixed with a dose of summertime sweetness.

These lovely prints are whispering promises of waking up to sunlight streaming through the bedroom window, lazy afternoons lost in a great book, iced tea with fresh lemon wedges and homemade potato salad.... yes, summertime is the best time.

Speaking of great books... any suggestions? I need to hit the bookstore. My lounge chair is calling my name.

The winner of the Ikat Scarf giveaway from Zhush chosen by random.org is Kristin from Bringing Pretty Back! Enjoy, Kristin!

My heart skipped a beat when spotted this model's fabulous take on 60's style.  Her voluminous hair is so cleverly updated into a side pony that works for today. The 60's era has my heart and some of the best fashion icons ruled at that time. From Bridgitte Bardot, Jackie O., Catherine Deneuve, not to mention the fabulous Twiggy!

What era do you find yourself most drawn to?

Dress to Decor: Modern Hepburn

The inspiration: The one and only Miss Audrey Hepburn. Fashion icon, beauty that transcends time, she continues to inspire us all.

You know those girls. The ones whose clothes never wear them. They have an uncanny ability to make you want to buy anything they put on. They just wear clothes beautifully. Audrey is a perfect example.
How many of us have purchased the little black dress hoping to create our own Audrey moment?

Are you an Audrey fan? Did her trendsetting fashion abilities have any influence on your sense of style?

I am also thrilled to announce my newest sponsor, the gorgeous, Katy, of Pink Mascara.

Katy is beyond creative, and her blog is a visual delight. Her Etsy shop, Katy's Creation, sells the coolest digital prints and original artwork. My favorite is her Bella print. Welcome Katy!
