Good morning, Loves! Did you all have a nice weekend? Friday was my birthday. I threw myself a girl's party. The one rule was no gifts allowed. I just wanted to be surrounded by my friends who helped me move in and helped me through my toughest times.
The flowers were a birthday gift from Dan. He has the best taste in flowers and his notes always get me. They never fail to make me well up. The dude has mad writing skills.
If you are local, then you can't beat Winston Flowers for their stunning arrangements. They are the creme dela creme of florists.
I found another deer head at Homegoods and figured why not? The price was right and I had birthday money. Since I think deers bring good luck, I might as well surround myself with them.
Bliss Bakery just opened locally and my girlfriend special ordered pink macaroons that she brought along with pink bubbly. The macaroons, in my opinion, rival the colorful confections at Laduree. Another friend brought the cupcakes, also from Bliss, and the frosting was creamy, not too sugary sweet. I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to have a great bakery close by! (Forgive my iPhone quality photo).
I know we all have some birthdays that are better than others, but this might have been the best one yet. I felt loved, peaceful, appreciated, blessed, and ridiculously happy. I'm not boasting, I'm telling you this because most of you know the suffering I have endured. When I was in the midst of it, I couldn't understand why so many bad things were happening to my family.
I understand it now. It was because I needed to grow. I needed to lose a lot to gain a sense of what really matters. There small things that I might have once taken for granted, are now savored and cherished. The less evolved part of me had to die so that I could learn how to live. Life's challenges lead us to live a more authentic life. Do you agree?
If you are in a dark place please believe me when I tell you that there is a reason it is happening. As endless as it may feel, time heals wounds and you will come out enlightened and happier. Surround yourself with caring people and continue to have faith.
So, I'd love to hear about a particular birthday of yours that you feel was the most special of all! xoxo
