Happy Valentine's Day, Loves. My valentine this year is of the four-legged variety. I'm completely okay with it. It's where I'm at. I never understood the masses of single people who are upset by Valentine's Day. There are just certain times in our lives where we are meant to be alone for a variety of reasons: we are growing, perhaps we need to learn independence, or maybe we are just drained and having nothing to offer another.
These periods are often necessary for us to become who we are meant to be. We find out what we really want and need in a partner, if the time should come. Until then, keep the faith my single friends. You are loved. You are special. Buy yourself some roses, wish yourself a Happy Valentine's Day, and indulge in a box of chocolates.
If you are in a relationship how do you intend to celebrate Valentine's Day? Do you like to make a big deal out of it or are you more low-key about the day?

The husband is out of town so I too will be spending my Valentine's Day with a hairy four-legged guy.

SO agree, I never ever understood people getting hung up on being single for Valentines either..odd! It would never cross my mind. Well we normally have a long standing tradition of going out with our best friends for dinner, a night we always look forward to but this year something unfortunate has happened and they cannot join us (you know) so we will probably go out on our own or I am honestly perfectly happy to whip up something here, slip into my cozy pjs, light a fire and call it a night at home!
ReplyDeleteI also agree with being alone, I actually enjoy my own company and find the quiet time and introspection allows me to really concentrate on what is important and on my mind. Sending you a cheers and toast to a happy day:)
And I join you with the four legged valentines.... I can't imagine my life without them right now! I am treated myself to hydrangeas yesterday. I woke to a bit more snow, looking so fresh and clean. It will be a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteI think I told you that I did not marry until I was 31! That length of time was challenging but so important in my life to prepare me for marriage....I think treating ourselves to a special gift on Valentine's is HIGHLY appropriate. Hot Fudge Sundae, anyone?? I am determined now more than ever to meet you somewhere, someday and eat ice cream together! I hope all of your readers will come by my blog and see your amazing work with the re-design..you are quite talented! I agree with Cheryl...today is a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect meditation on Valentine's Day! I'm usually pretty low key about it and I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's.

Wishing you a lovely day ~ hope you spoil both of you! :)
ReplyDeleteWe keep it low key after 25 years of marriage, we are not tied down by what commercialism dictates us.
ReplyDeleteYou should visit my friend Suzan's blog. I think you will appreciate the poem she posted today.
Have a lovely day,
Nicole
We'll be going out for a meal, but not on Valentines night as the menus tend to be set commercialised ones, so we'll go to our fave restaurant on Saturday when we can chosse what we actually want to eat!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentines Day Hun xoxo

we are always low key - i hate going to dinner on THE day - it's pushy and rushed and fixed menu's - not into that - so we'll do the 'fancy' dinner another day - tonight we'll make dinner together sip bubbly and prob throw on a movie :o)
ReplyDeleteI'm not in a relationship right now and I'm okay with it. Valentine's Day doesn't bother me. I usually give some gifts to my family members and that includes the four legged ones too.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Your Day,
Kim
We're very low key - just a card and some candy. :)
ReplyDeleteWe are going to a dinner tonight with friends....Have a great day Debbie!
ReplyDeleteOh I want that girls jacket! Ee don't really do anything, it's amateur night. ;)
ReplyDeleteWell said my dear. I don't make a big deal of the holiday, but it is nice to appreciate loved ones.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I made my husband cook tonight ;)

Happy Valentine's Day, Debby! A fur baby Valentine sounds just perfect :-)
ReplyDeletealways, koru kate
Happy Valentine's Day Debby! We don't go all out for V-day, we go for dinner and that's about it!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day, Debby! I'm signing my re-finance doc's tonight and my guy is making us dinner. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a festive person, so I tend to go all out on my students, giving them treats and wearing my V-Day socks. They love it!
ReplyDeleteWe've been married for 30 years and have learned the importance of never taking each other for granted, showing daily acts of love and affection, and keeping the fire burning in our marriage. Although my husband jokingly says this is a hallmark holiday and gets tired of all the diamond adds, I always receive a token of his love (usually roses) and we do something alone..just the two of us (tonight it's dinner out;)
ReplyDeleteI like what you say about being alone. Even IN marriage, there are times we either feel or wish to be alone. Sometimes it feels good .. other times not so good. Feeling comfortable in your own skin and knowing how to make yourself happy (not depending on someone else for happiness) is so important.
Debby, I do hope you have a plan;)
I'd expect a pretty candle, flowers, and something sweet. How about your daughter? A movie with her?
Happy Valentine's Day
xxL
Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteDebby,
ReplyDeleteWe're coming up on 40 years of marriage and both look forward to an evening at home tonight, in front of the fireplace, pizza and Netflix. It's a school night so I'm looking forward to it.
Karen
Happy Valentine's Day Debby! We usually do a nice dinner at home and keep it low key. Tonight we're bringing dinner to some very dear friends. Then home for a long bubble bath for me and cuddles with our pooch. XO
ReplyDeleteHappy heart day! Wish my day had been this glam. Ha!
ReplyDeleteValentine's Day never bothered me when I was single. I usually took my mother out to dinner to celebrate back then. I never understood why people freaked out about being without a date. I quite liked being single :)
