My son took the train home from college to surprise me. It just feels more like the holidays when he's home. I'm slowly working on putting out my Christmas décor when I can steal an hour here or there. I did manage to to display some greenery in the foyer, (photo below). It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

Good morning dearest....
ReplyDeleteOh, your kitchen is BEAUTIFUL! And that your son will be with you will be a bright memory for you and for the rest of your family. Did you get any snow? We got hit big time yesterday and it IS MARVELOUS. Now to drive in it 25 miles to my substitute teaching job today!!!!!
Have another memory-making week..and I TOO HAVE NOT DONE ANY SHOPPING or card sending yet!!!!! Anita
I too will never outgrow the magic of this season....its so wonderful and if you just take the time to breath it all in, its amazing. (not to say its without stresses, we all have them but its important to concentrate on all the goodness)! Love the images, so festive and elegant....everything you are doing so far is fabulous Debby!
ReplyDeleteDebby,
ReplyDeleteMy daughter came home last weekend and it truly motivated me to move along with my decorating. The house is starting to look beautiful. I love that.
I have done just a bit of shopping... ugh~ no cards this year. It's still to difficult. Next year I will....
My favor
I love the wood floors in your kitchen! Beautiful. All of my children will be home in a couple of weeks...first I have to go watch my son graduate from college this weekend. The majority of my Christmas shopping is done...but I always get tempted by sale prices to buy a few more! Our house is still chaos, but the end is in sight. Have a great week!!
ReplyDeleteHi Debby, could you tell me what you used to hang the garland over the entrance to your kitchen? The first thing you see when you enter our home is the arch over our great room-the perfect place for an evergreen garlard. I just never knew how to hang it without damaging the walls. I didn't have much luck witht the 3M hooks.
ReplyDeletethis is the FIRST and (and only year) i have not decorated for the holidays - and i LOVE to decorate - but with all the house construction, ect - makes no sense - but all our Christmas parties start this weekend! - LOVE x-mas parties - holiday cheer is the best! xoxox
ReplyDeletewe need to start decorating ASAP! hopefully next weekend, Xmas is upon us!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty your kitchen door Debby!!
We decorated all weekend and are preparing for our party next Saturday night. I'm so glad your son surprised you! How sweet of him! Love your garland and your topiaries in the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteLovely kitchen and I like your garlands!
ReplyDeleteLove how your decor is looking! I could eat some of those pears in the photograph you show! -Tonya
ReplyDeleteWow, I love your decorations so far! I've started decorating a little bit but unfortunately we can't put up a tree because my cat will actually jump into it and rest on the branches : (. And then we find all the ornaments in our basement!
ReplyDeleteI am a little behind because of my little surgery, but I am thinking about it and am ready to be unleashed. Love your forger creation.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday.

Perfect Christmas post!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your garland. And I love that your son surprised you. How sweet!!!
Your garland is perfect Debby! Such a fun post.. the holidays are so magical. The preparation and the time spent with family (making memories) is the best part. We all have a child within.. and we need to find it, and bring it out to play every now and then. Christmas is the perfect time. The Polar Express.. do you still hear the bell?

I am so glad that your son came home to surprise you! What a lovely early Christmas treat. I think it's a shame that some people feel the need to outgrow Christmas, but there is a magic in this season and if you surrender yourself to the wonder, of family, friends, cookies, and festivity, then you give yourself the gift of a time of eternal childhood and innocence, and that's something we can all use a little more of.
