HOLIDAY STYLE FILES: ORNAMENT DISPLAYS

via

There is nothing prettier than beautifully displayed holiday ornaments. It adds a quick, festive touch to any space, don't you agree? Whether they are displayed on a tiered tray in the kitchen, a silver tray in the powder room,  or a  trio of vases, with colorful ornaments, sparkling from within, the end result is the same - instant holiday prettiness in less than five minutes. Voila!

I'm drawn to vintage ornaments. My late Mémé loved Christmas more than anyone I've ever met. Every season, on the day after Thanksgiving, her Christmas tree went up. You could set your watch by it. The branches were adorned with all of her beautiful vintage ornaments. Outdoors her home twinkled the brightest on the block, with pretty holiday lights strung on her porch. Indoors her stereo played Christmas music non-stop, and if you took her out holiday shopping, you would hear her humming Christmas music in the aisles. She was bursting with Christmas spirit. She's been gone a long time now, but most definitely, not forgotten. Every season I feel her spirit with me as I decorate my tree, spot a vintage ornament that reminds me of her, or hear certain holiday music. I'm grateful that through her example, I learned to appreciate the beauty and the joy of the season.

Do you know someone who is a big Christmas buff? Perhaps it's yourself? Is there a specific thing about the holiday season that reminds you of someone you cherished?

  2. Oh dear, what fantastic displays today Debby! I have a mercury glass candle cup and for the LIFE OF ME, I cannot find it anywhere in this house! I need it to put a little white tree in it for my marble mantle. It would look perfect! Well, silver and white are my loves this year, but AQUA BLUE ornaments always take me back to my childhood. My half sister who was already married when I was born always had one of those vintage aluminum trees decked out ONLY in aqua blue ornaments. It was and still is to me, glorious.

WISHING YOU another beautiful countdown to the holiday dear one! Anita

  13. Wow! That pink wreath is stunning! Beautiful photos. Love the story you shared about your dear Meme. That is so special I have cherished memories of my Mom at Christmas time and all of her gorgeous decorations, traditions, love of Christmas music, decadent baked goodies and her absolute love of entertaining at this time of the year. I love Christmas as much as much as my Mother did but am having a hard time getting it all together this year. Countdown time!

  17. I don't really know anyone who's a Christmas buff to be honest. Most people i know seem pretty relaxed and i feel like the main person who gets excited by trees and Christmas ornaments. The pictures in this post have inspired me on how to incorporate these ornaments into my room since i don't own a tree or a proper table

I'll be looking for a large deep vase and putting all the Christmas ornaments i've been dreaming of in there. I'll certainly keep them on display throughout the year because i celebrate Christmas everyday :)

  18. My Mama and Papa both overload on Christmas. Our house is festive from the first day of December all the way through to the sixth of January, inside and out. I love it, every shining bauble, every fairy light, every glowing candle. I can still remember so clearly the Christmas decorating sessions of my childhood, and though I am now grown the memories keep me company when this time of year comes around. After all, family is the reason for the season.
