I have been stunned silent in regards to the Newtown tragedy. Sometimes words are just simply a sequence of letters and sounds, inadequate in their ability to express our bevy of emotions. Our words fail us, for they are only words. Words can never fully relay the depths of grief, sorrow, and heartbreak for the children who left this earth unexpectedly, too soon, and in such an unfathomable way. Words cannot begin to describe the grave sickness, deep in our guts, imagining the the gaping hole left in the families of the victims.
While the newscasters try to analyze why the shooter did what he did, I can't help thinking, "Not helping." There is no explanation that could ever make sense. There is evil in the world. This holiday season should be about light, and yet, here we are staring darkness in the face.
So as you turn on your Christmas lights each evening, please say a prayer for the families affected. There are twenty new angels in Heaven this holiday - for that I am certain. May God bless their loved ones.
