WANDERLUST EXPLORED: STROLLING NANTUCKET STREETS AND SHOPS

What does your perfect Autumn afternoon look like? Luckily, I captured mine in photographs and I'd love to share them with you. My idea of a perfect fall afternoon takes place in Nantucket of course. It involves strolling the foliage, tree-lined, streets, with a Pumpkin Iced Coffee from, The Bean, on Centre Street.

A stop at Petticoat Row Bakery is always a must for a Red Velvet Whoopie Pie and a box of macarons to go.
Location: 35 Centre Street, Nantucket, MA.  Fall Hours: Tuesday – Saturday 8AM – 5PM.
Sunday 8AM – 12PM.  Closed Mondays.

I like to stroll at a leisurely pace to absorb the beauty, architecture, and storybook charm that holds my heart captive.

I stumbled upon a fabulously feminine boutique, Milly & Grace, which the owner named after each of her beloved Grandmas. The minute I stepped inside I said: "Oh, yes, this is exactly the type of shop I would love to own one day." Fashion, décor, jewelry and gifts, all in a pretty, ivy-lined shop, off of Main Street. As luck would have it, the owner, Emily, was there decorating for the holidays and displaying Christmas décor for sale.

How adorable is Emily? Gotta love a girl who loves her Grandmas!
Location: 2 Washington Street, Nantucket, MA. Hours: Open Daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

What is your idea of the perfect Autumn afternoon? Where would it take place and who would you spend it with?

  2. Such an adorable town.

My perfect autumn afternoon would consist reading books all snuggled up on a large couch with a large cup of tea. Or a long walk alone or with friends :)

    Have a wonderful day!

  4. Good morning sweet friend!

Well, these photos bring my such beautiful memories of strolling in Newburyport, Marbelhead, Rockport, Newport Rhode Island....my goodness, the list doesn't stop. That candy shop, OMG. ALL the shops my dear and yes, the architecture always has and always whisper ghosts from the marvelous past of the history of this region of our country. Massachusetts is just one heck of a gorgeous state and I am proud to call it my home because I basically "GREW UP" there.

My idea of a perfect afternoon? Strolling around ANY fabulous town, village or city with anyone I love dearly.

HAVE FUN AND THANK YOU FOR THIS FUN! Anita

  10. The closest I can get to such a fabulous place is our hill country towns of Boerne and Fredericksburg....these provide wonderful, perfect Autumn afternoons in this area of the country. But, I would love to visit Nantucket with you....

  13. It's been quite a few years since I have been to Nantucket. Your images brings me back to why I love it so much. The architecture, the shops, the cobblestones, the sea. And all of this wrapped with a huge dose of New England charm.

  15. Could I take a tour of Nantucket with you? Your pictures are so enticing! Here in the deep south, we love fall even though we don't always get the change of foliage like other parts of the country, but it's still a favorite time. Thanks for sharing your favorite place with us.

  19. Debby,
Nantucket would be a tough act to follow but I guess my idea of a perfect fall afternoon would be lunch with my good friend, Carla, and then off to a few of our favorite consignment stores and antique shops. In the afternoon, once we were finished shopping I'd want to stop for a Pumpkin Latte at Peet's Coffee and just relax and recap the day. The weather outside would be crisp and cool with blue skies and sunshine.
