Fit For A Foodie

I recently went to a local market/farmstand which I also have dubbed as a "Foodie's Fantasy." The fruit is so fresh and ripe, it's as if you picked it off the vine. The market offers a vast selection of cheeses that would put even the best fromageire in Paris to shame. Don't even get me started on the desserts!

From the minute I stepped out of the car, I smelled donuts. Cinnamon sugar wafted through the crisp fall air. On my way out of the market, I spotted the samples...Little bite-sized doughnuts waiting to be devoured. My daughter and I sampled the warm, sweet, sugared deliciousness and knew we HAD TO purchase some to bring home.  The minute my son spotted them they were gone.

Some of life's greatest pleasures don't come wrapped in fancy imported paper, but in the form of a simple plastic bag with a twist tie. Any foodie knows there is no substitute for a warm homemade doughnut.

What is your simple pleasure?

  2. I have wanted to do the strawberry mint water, or mint water, or blueberry water, before. There are always so many ideas that can be learned from these blogs that its hard to remember to use them all! - Tonya

  4. When my children were living at home, I would occasionally bring home french bread just out of the oven at the local grocery where we shop. They would devour that warm bread withing seconds...it never made it to the dinner table. Occasionally, when my daughter was with me, we would eat it on the way home...I guess I am confessing why I wear a tire around my middle. But these are such great memories...thank you for bringing them back to me!! Simple pleasures are the best! Have a great week, Debby!

  6. Ahhh....my simple pleasure is the same dearest. Freshly baked bread of any nature will make me feel on top of the world.

You should have seen me in France....those bakers saw me coming; after several weeks of seeing me frequent their shops, they always knew they could make a killing that morning on just ME!!!!!!

I am so happy to see you are out enjoying that New England autumn air. We are loving our autumn here too.

THANK YOU for coming to my post! Unfortunately, the local shops here find no interest in my things. I have tried with several places and they all give me the same schpeil: "Your art is not a good fit for us." O.K.

    SO the quest continues.

    WISH ME LUCK! Anita

  16. I agree, it's the little things, not the huge. I do love the occasional donut and we have a wonderful donut shop nearby, Hubby gets up some weekend mornings and buys me my favorite...maple bar. When it's warm its about the best thing on the planet. A warm baguette would be right up there too!

  19. Autumn isn't Autumn without warm cinnamon sugared doughnuts! Since there is no way I'll find one in the boulangerie, I'm going to have to see if I can make them! :)
