The other day I was reprimanded for my food choices on Twitter. I had a status stating, "It's a rainy day I think Nutella is in order." Cute. Harmless. Until the activists read it...
Awhile later I get a reply tweet from some activist group: "Nutella contains palm oil and it ruined the orangutan habitat." #palmoil #nutella
I thought, Seriously? You are going to scold me on Twitter?! How does one even respond to that?
Several replies when through my head:
"Thank you for your concern, but I'll eat what I want." #haters
"I love a monkey as much as the next person, but I think you are going a bit ape over this cause." #stopmonkeyingaround
"If I choose to binge on Nutella that is my problem." #fatgirlproblems
"Perhaps you should go play with the orangutans instead of stalking Twitter all day for statuses on Nutella." #getalife
Being that I was raised not to say anything at all unless you have something nice to say, I chose not to respond. Have you ever been scolded on Twitter?
On another note, I just finished up another blog design. You can visit my design site to view my portfolio and see what past clients had to say about their experience. Feel free to email me with any questions.

What brilliant retorts! That sort of thing really gets under my skin, people like that are pains in the butt.
ReplyDeleteI love the #fatgirlproblems reply! I have never been targeted on Twitter - except for having kind wishes from other bloggers (like you Miss Debby!). There was an incidence here in Australia recently where a media personality who had been making a stance against 'Twitter bullies' had to be hospitalised because of a nervous breakdown. While I think this is a bit of an extreme reaction, I think it opens up an interesting discussion for those of us who see our social media outlets as more positive community interactions.
ReplyDeleteTake care xx.
I don't really use Twitter but I'm sure not responding was a wise decision. I really like the header design.

UNBELIEVABLE that you would get a message as such!!! This person doesn't have a beef with YOU but rather has a much larger target to hit....we cannot control what is in what we eat. There are bigger forces to deal with and it is a big machine that is hard to stop. Really, people like this have nothing else to do! WOW......
ReplyDeleteHello there dear. You are super, you are wonderful, and let's just move on. You do fabulous work, and OH! I did not see my recommendation on your portfolio! You have been so helpful in aiding me when I fail to understand the codes! You really have been magnificent and I recommend you to ANYONE out there that wants a new fresh look!
Have a great day and EAT SOME NUTELLA to your heart's delight!!! Anita
Wow...people have WAY too much time on their hands! Since I have been in communications all of my adult life, I have been scolded for just about everything. (Being scolded by cheerleader parents was still the worst!!). I try to do what you have done...hold my tongue no matter what. IF it reaches ridiculous, like it did with the cheerleaders, I will stand strong and nicely face them down.
ReplyDeleteBut, you know what, a little Nutella is sounding really good right now....make sure NOT to tweet that you love ice cream sundaes!!
Some people DO NOT have a life, Debby! If you can sit ans stalk Twitter, you have too much time on your hands. I lvoe to visit, but can't hang out all day. Always people like this on social media.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday.

There's been such a lot in the UK recently about Twitter abuse, sadly it's on the incline.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday Hun xoxo

Too funny but sadly not very surprising. People just dont' know when it is and when it is not appropriate to "voice their opinions". It seriously is pretty disgusting that people feel so free to do this, what you eat is YOUR business!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures above are sooo beautiful. I love the new header too and its enough to entice me to visit and see what itsa all about..you are one talented lady, Debby!
Your title, Twits that Twitter, not only grabbed my attention, it made me laugh out loud. I don't tweet, so I'm not all that familiar with Twitter. I'm afraid I would have responded using one of your clever tweets to the obnoxious stalkers that lie in wait for what they believe is their personal duty to set the rest of the world straight. Of course they're ALWAYS right. You did the right thing by ignoring them, I wish I could say I would be able to rise above the fray and handle the situation with as much grace as you did.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos!
Me thinks it would be much more efficient if they wrote to Nutella!
ReplyDeleteI love Nutella. When I was in Paris, I bought my daughter a Nutella recipe book, so there, lol!
i never use twitter - somehow some of my account are linked to it - but i don't 'get' twitter - i know i'm WAY behind the times!
ReplyDeleteYou've seriously GOT to be kidding me! What's wrong with people? I would ignore it too if I were you as I happily indulged in my delicious Nutella. In fact, I might have to run to the grocery store at lunch to pick up some :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday, Debby! xoxo
Hi, Debbie, instead of "Nutella contains palm oil and it ruined the orangutan habitat." what this person should have said "As a Nutella lover, help me request Nutella not to purchase palm oil if it threats the orangutan habitat.". If that's the way she/he wants to save the orangutans it was so rude and unwise!
ReplyDeleteno way! I think people should become a bit more people and reconnect with reality! so weird he/she scolded you, what do they know?!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I love your hashtags! I didn't see that tweet, but if I did I would have made some snarky comment back for you. #igotyourback
ReplyDeleteHa! Well some folks just have too much time on their hands apparently. Why can't people just accept others.. in all aspects of life.. what they choose to wear, do, or eat? I ate Nutella crepes in Paris every day! .. should I tweet that?? :}

omg
ReplyDeletethose are some seriously bored tweeters out there
brett
OH My GOSH....Don't they have any thing better to do? Life is just to short to worry about all that.
ReplyDeleteI don't use Twitter. I was raised the same way..."If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all". I find a lot of people are really lacking in manners these days or have too much time on their hands. I love Nutella!
ReplyDeleteSeriously ... this person had too much time on their hands. Nutella is a food group in our home ( the Mr. is addicted)... He is just about finished a 5KG jar that he got from Santa at Christmas. xo C. (HHL)
ReplyDeleteThat person is the opposite of fun. Seriously. I can't even imagine that person having any friends. Why would you say that on twitter?! You go ahead and eat all the Nutella you want girl! xo
ReplyDeleteYou are kidding about that tweet! Are people serious?
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't want to lecture, but I'd like to see you eat the organic stuff, not the Nutella brand. I always find the nutty taste so much richer in the organic ones. Even the kids agree with me ;-)
How hilarious! Some people just don't have enough to do with their time!
