That Inspirational Girl Series #41: Flowers and Free Spirited

I'm a strong believer in karma. I believe that good actions are rewarded, and wrongful acts come back to haunt us. Have you ever seen someone you know who does harm to others continually get away with it? Eventually, I believe it does catch up with them. It might not happen as soon as we'd expect, but eventually those who are mean-spirited, hurtful, manipulative, vengeful, violent, controlling, or just down right evil, get theirs.

What about the good people who always seem to be down on their luck? Sometimes, it seems as if the good karma they are putting out into the universe might never make it's way back to them. Perhaps, the timing of the universe just works a bit slower than we'd like. Maybe they won't get the reward they are so deserving of in this lifetime, or maybe their good karma will simply be passed onto their children or grandchildren.

What are your thoughts on karma? Do you believe that people who are insistent on self-destructing have bad karma that can rub off on us if we allow them in our lives?

  1. It is so difficult to see those that are distractive appear to be so happy. We never really know who is happy and who is not.
I have a situation in my family that has caused me great pain. Someone stole (big) from me, and I think that knowing what will happen to them hurts as much as what they did to me and my children. It has been a long month, because I can't believe what people are capable of.
Back to Karma, there is a saying about that. I can't remember the exact ward, but it says that people will pay for there sins, and if you are iucky, he may let you watch.
In my situation, I don't want to see it, because it is someone so close, but I am assured that it will happen. The Lord takes care of these things. He disciplines his children.
    Beautiful post. Love the daybed!
    Happy Monday.

  2. Every time I do something wrong / mean, wham, Karma is there to smack me upside the head, so I try my best to behave.

I know this woman who is the most evil, unkind, downright mean person I have ever met in my life, and she gets away with it. I just do not understand it.

Oh well, such is life. Have a wonderful week!

  3. I absolutely believe in karma, and that there is some sort of cosmic timing that we mere humans are not privy to. My Mum has always told me to just pay forward whatever good luck and circumstances come our way because then they are sure to come back to you.

  4. I most certainly do. I can't imagine a person could ever regret putting out good karma, it's a healthy way to live your life.

  8. I do believe in karma, and I believe that people with negative energy tend to corrupt those around them. As they say - misery loves company. It can be very hard to stay positive around people who aren't.

  9. I definitely needed to see this post just before preparing for bed. I certainly believe in karma and i've been feeling a bit down. But you have just reminded me that i need to have more faith in my dreams and leave karma to do its thing when it is ready :)

  10. Yes I believe in karma and I have heard the consequences of others destructive ways and I am thankful I have not been there to witness this, as there is no pleasure gained in others distress. I am aware of my own misfortune, but there has been so many little joys, which may seem inconsequential to others, but it is what I take away from it that is important.

  11. Darling, the universe has a way to making all things equal. Karma is the universe's way of returning crap to crappy people. Absolutely, I believe in it. I also agree that no one can make you feel bad without your permission. Stay strong & purposeful, walk the Lord's path, do unto others, laugh out loud and always look waaaaay UP. Sending love from hot Texas.....

  12. As my Buddhist priest growing up once told me, "There's no such thing as good karma or bad karma. Karma is karma."

I don't necessarily believe in Karma, but I believe in justice- whether in this life or the next. I also believe that everything happens for a reason, even the bad stuff. God puts things in our path because He knows what's best for us and knows what trials we need to grow and become stronger.

  13. Fabulous post my friend! Karma as we often refer to it ... is the energy we put out , be it positive (helping others, having faith etc.) or negative (demeaning others, not giving a helping hand etc.) and since the universe works on energy - what we put out there is what will come back to us. Our thoughts are very powerful, and it's important to see the glass half full ... xo C. (HHL)

  14. I believe in Karma.. what comes around, goes around. People aren't LUCKY, rather it's created, and I believe that we should always surround ourselves with people that share these beliefs. Negativity creates a miserable vibe that no one needs.

Hope your week is off to a good start Debby :)

  16. Debbie, how great is it that you have so many followers that care enough to tell you that they "care"?! I would love that and I think it speaks very highly of you! You are a woman of character…I've known that since the very first time I ever read your blog! I don't know if karma is the right word for me to use for what I believe but I do know that God watches out for the poor in spirit and He is the one that not only determines what goes on in our lives but He also ordains it! That is so very freeing to me! No matter what others do to us…they will be repaid one day…and boy, I don't want to be there for that! You are such an angel…and I know your heart is in the right place! I'm praying for you daily and I don't even know what's gone on in your life but I know it's impacted you tremendously! There is so much that goes on in our lives that we don't tell…if anyone knew what my extended family has gone thru in these past 3 months ya'll might not even like me on Facebook let alone read my sorry excuse for a blog! LOL! Seriously….we are really all in the same boat! And as my precious mother in law has always said…."Family will kill you! quicker than a freight train"! I hope that Southern sentiment will reach it's way to everyone that reads this and it will be taken for what it is!

  17. As an orthodox Jew our belief system is very similar to this. But I've found that in general if you send out positive energy it comes back to you. The other day my daughter said to me, "Mom, everyone loves you, why don't you have any enemies?" and I said because I truly love all people!
    Have a great night!

  20. I definitely think that at times karma can be very slow. I'm currently stuck in a series of unfortunate incidents and am ready for the good karma fairy to pay me a visit! I wish she would hurry up! x

  21. oh i SO believe in karma - like no joke! - what u put out to the world comes back - even when u don't think so or u think something isn't right - it all works out in the end - sometimes u gotta go through some muddy times to see the rainbow at the end
