Happy Fourth of July to all of my American readers. How will you be spending the day? Yesterday was a complete summer beauty here in the Boston area, but unfortunately, Mother nature has PMS. She has decided to throw a wrench in everyone's outdoor plans by gifting us with a showering of scattered thunder storms throughout the day. Hmmm... those fireworks may not go off as planned.
Speaking of fireworks, Katy Perry's version has been my theme song as of late. If I sat down and told you all I have been through over the past year and the dire situation I have been dealt, your head would spin. We are talking Lifetime movie. A mess so deep that I don't even know how to begin to climb out. I have worried so much and for so long that I don't even have an ounce of worry left in my bones.
How am I dealing with it? By believing that my spunkiness always allows me to bounce back, and that I deserve every happiness that life wants to deliver me. By being thankful that I still have what matters most. Amazing kids. Family. Friends. Health. A sense of humor. A community of bloggers who share my passions. The ability to stay positive 90% of the time. A belief that the challenges we face only make us stronger. Now one says it quite as good as Katy:

You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're an original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane, comes a rainbow
Maybe you're the reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightening bolt, your heart will blow
And when it's time, you'll know
You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane, comes a rainbow
Maybe you're the reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightening bolt, your heart will blow
And when it's time, you'll know
You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July
If you had to pick one theme song that captures your life at the current moment, what song would you choose and why? Have a wonderful and safe holiday, Everyone! xoxo

I love that song too Debby, it's my happy tune.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear things have been so rough, my year has been awful too, it's just one thing after another, I can't wait to turn 50 and put this decade behind me - a few years to go, we can hobble along through all of lives messes together!
Love the lyrics especially after the hurricane comes the rainbow.....your rainbow AND your pot of gold I know is waiting for you Debby. So sorry to hear what you have been through, sounds like its really been a stressful year, so happy you find comfort and peace in blogging and know you have many many friends from all over who care about you and want happiness for you. I believe that when you feel that things have hit rock bottom, theres only one diretion left to go and that is up....hoping things start turning around and moving in that direction for you.......sending you a big hug and we got a visit from the rain gods over this way too......since we are at the beach sure hoping its going to clear up....otherwise we may head home:( Wishing you a wonderful day......bet the movie theaters will be packed!

Debby, you absolutely deserve every happiness that life has to offer. After this storm that you are passing through, the rainbow on the other side is going to be so bright you will need shades to see :) Keep turning up that Katy Perry because 'baby you are a firework'
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate your post today. Somehow blogs make everyone seem beautiful and flawless when in reality we are all going through a lot more than the perfect photos we share.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea the lyrics to K.P's song were so profound. We learn something new everyday. I hope you have a wonderful 4th surrounded by the right people.
Everyone goes through storms but it's how we fair through those storms that makes us stronger. You'll get through only to have your pot of gold at the end. God tests us all.
ReplyDeleteI wish you and your family a very Happy Fourth of July!

Debra~
Good morning beautiful one!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, our lives are like the weather that you described above. One minute SUNNY and promising, then suddenly, a storm sweeps in. But never forget that above the FLEETING and EVER-CHANGING CLOUDS is the sun, a steady and faithful friend whose rays still shine threw the haze. We can depend on the most powerful source in the universe, Debby:
LOVE.
It never fails.
In times of failure, pain and sorrow, it is there to pick up us and teach us how to walk and LOVE BACK. That is where we get our strength. Your spunk? LOVE. Your ability to be positive 90% of the time? LOVE.
We can do this. Sadness is temporary, or can be. LOVE is forever.
Peace. Anita
AHHH! As a language teacher I still make mistakes while typing too fast:
ReplyDeleteTHROUGH, instead of THREW...what a dufus! teeeheee
Hi Debby
ReplyDeleteI hope things end on a brighter note for you :)

Happy 4th of July, Debby!
ReplyDeleteIt is good to hear of your resolve. When we are faced with those things, we forget we have a choice to react one way or another. You are an inspiration to many. My "anthem" lately has been "That's what Faith can do" by Kutlass. It is so powerful to find music that soothes and empowers. Enjoy the Holiday, Val
Happy 4th, Debby! Hope that your day is fabulous!

Even though life gets difficult, your spunky attitude will see you through. You've chosen an inspiring anthem for yourself. Katy Perry's song sure has touched a lot of people. As for my song.....I'm going way back to Charlie Chaplin's song, Smile, sung by Lyle Lovett.
ReplyDeleteHappy Fourth and I hope the fireworks go off without a hitch and with each boom you'll find possibilities and smiles.
Debby you are always so strong and inspiring to us all.
ReplyDeleteThis helps us all remember that we just don't know what are friends are really going through even if they confide some...you are in my thoughts and prayers and are a special ray of sunlight in our world!

ReplyDeleteHappy Fourth. So sorry you have had so much to deal with. You will look back someday and wonder how you made it through this time.
ReplyDeleteMother Nature is not being nice. Our whole village is out of power and has been 6 days. Some of us outside of town had power restored after day 3.
I am glad that you are surviving. (((((HUGS)))))
OMG! That table is pure happiness!!
ReplyDeleteLove coming here and see these fantastic images.
