The Great Outdoors?

via
I love the outdoors more than anyone IF there are no bugs present, it's not too humid, the sun isn't scorching, the garden is void of snakes, no woodpeckers are making a racket with their incessant pecking, the neighbors are not having their septic tanks pumped and it's not raining. Phew. I guess I am not cut out for camping, but I already knew this. Perhaps, I could be swayed into camping if the surrounding were as luxurious settings such as those above.

Prissy? Probably. Spoiled. I think not. Outdoorsy? Um no. Just a girl who knows her limits and knows what she doesn't like. Now I ask you, how is this a bad thing?

Are you a bit of a diva when it comes to camping or do you just roll with it?

  1. teeeheee....well, I LOVE CAMPING. However, in the last several years, I can do without the bugs. THe only thing I like about CAMPING are the nature walks, hiking, riding horses and just running around until I am so exhausted that the end of the day MEAL puts me to sleep under the stars. That is a blast. But I am more careful about getting bug bites and TOO MUCH SUN on this delicate skin of mine!

I LOVE THESE PHOTOS, WOMAN!!!! That canopy is alright with me to hang out with pals all day long, maybe watercolouring!!

    Have fun dearest, Anita

  2. When camping (on trekking trips) I bear it all, rain, snow, cold, heat (rarely as my trekking is usually at extremely high altitue at temprature in the 10's...) I embrace the good and the tough and love it. However at home, I have outdoor daybed for sleeping under the stars with beautiful linens and netting. I guess i am both a princess (very enjoyable) and a rough it up type .

  3. I used to HATE camping. After many church group trips as a child where I either got bronchitis and ended up in hospital, or our tent flooded, or I got tonsilitis and ended up in hospital, I had resigned myself to being fated to being a non-camper. However, last year my (now ex-) boyfriend and I went camping in the primeval wonderland that is Yosemite National Park. I fell in love with camping. I didn't care about not showering for three days, or the below freezing temperatures at night, smelling like campfire and mosquito repellant, or eating cold tinned lentil soup. I was in the experience. I am not sure when I will get to go back, and who I will share my adventure with next time, but I have come to the conclusion that I can suspend my OCD/clean freak side for a few days, and soak in some dirt when the occasion calls for it.

  4. A diva, absolutely ! What I could take when I was young, I can't deal with now. I hate backache, humidity, mosquitoes, public loos and lack of good manners. My days of roughing it are definitely over !

  5. Nature in all its forms exhilarates me. I love flower gardening, hiking through woods, picnics, spending a day or a lifetime at a beach, and sitting around a campfire as night closes in. Camping? No way...at the end of the day I want a warm shower and a comfy bed surrounded by four walls. A cozy cabin or cottage would suit me fine.

Oh how I love the photos today, each one makes me smile.

  6. I am NOT a camping kind of girl AT ALL! i don't mind a good bonfire and s'mores, but I always like to end up in a fluffy, comfy bed with no mosquitos!

  9. I used to go camping but haven't camped for a few years now - prefer a bit of luxury now but camping is such fun. Great photos especially the dreamy first one!

  10. VERY much a diva, though I cringe at the word or that I could be considered one:) But camping would so not be for me, I have way way too many hangups and am a serious germaphob. I can barely get comfy in a hotel room so camping would be a disaster! Like you, love the outdoors but no humidity and no bugs please! THEN I am really really happy....lately the weather has been splendid, 70's, 0 humidiity.....its been so great! But I hear hot muggy weather is headed our way......enjoy the day Debby!

  11. I don't think I'll enjoy camping as I love the luxurious amenities my home gives.
But for sure I'll be able to go on a picnic or al fresco dining with settings as those above.

  12. Debby-
You find the most beautiful images. Now I am craving french bread!
I love entertaining outdoors when the weather is cool.
    Happy Wednesday.

  13. I did not grow up camping and as a result I have never been able to make it through the night in a tent. As much as I would love to be a crunchy girl who climbs mountains and hikes the Appalachian Trail, I am a priss and 100% ok with that. So in my opinion there is nothing wrong with being anti-outdoorsy! :)

  15. I love being outdoors, especially in summer & fall, but I prefer to retreat back to the comforts of home or hotel for sleep. I did camp on a San Felipe beach once but I'm not sure it counts because there was a bathroom & shower in the camp site :-)

  16. Haha! I am such an outdoorsy gal but bugs? noooo! Not glam at all! But Debby, this post is amazing. So beautiful!

  20. I am only a spring and fall outdoors person...and mornings occasionally. But I have always left camping to the three men in our family...never really been a fan. Yesterday, it was 106 here...so no outdoor for awhile!

  21. Hi! Summer is great when it's not humid. Here has been 100F almost every day but dry.

  22. OMG! I am with you girl. I don't do camping. I love being in my garden or on the beach, but camping.....no. I prefer to stay in the comfort of my own home if camping is on offer. Thankfully I have a husband who also doesn't do camping ;-)
Summer well and truly under way here in Spain. It's been 115ºF all week; stifling!

  23. I don't do camping! I think I camped twice in my life and complained both times. I LOVE the outdoors....walks on the beach, gardening, eating outdoors and going for long walks with my dog. I don't care for sleeping on the hard ground in a tent and can't deal with bugs! Guess I'm a diva in this area. No roughing it for me! I do like to sit by my fireplace indoors and make s'mores! Pretty photos Debby!

  24. Debbie, I am with you...give me a hotel and room service anytime! I am not a camper.

  25. Hey Deb!!! I'm a girly girl but turned into a boyey boy on my trip to Australia!!! We camped out in a swag in the Outback. Looking back at my photos of what I slept in totally grossed this girl out. Had a wonderful, wonderful time and hated coming back, but missed the kids. If you haven't visited Australia or New Zealand put it on your bucket list!!!

  26. I'm such a diva when it comes to camping. I prefer an RV or at least a wooden platform under my tent.
I adore the vintage look of the girl in the second photo, I'd love to recreate the makeup and hair on myself.

  27. Not an outdoors person at all... Haha!

  28. I'm absolutely spoiled, Debby!, Camping is definitively not my cup of tea...maybe in a TV set, with a controlled environment, temperature, humidity..and of course we can add those luxurious settings above, then we can enjoy that baguette, those strawberries, take a couple of pictures, and go back to the hotel suite!!!, yep! I'm totally diva, my friend!

    Kisses and Hugs!

  29. My idea of being "outdoorsy" is relaxing on the beach, swinging in a hammock or sitting in my andirondack chairs! Bugs = Me Indoors!

  31. I'm right there with you! I love the mountains and hiking, but at the end of the day I'm happier in a condo than tent! I've heard of glamping (glamorous camping) which I'd be willing to try! :)

  32. Haha! Love this Debby. I have never been camping. Ever. But I promised my husband when we got married that I would go just once to see if I liked it. He has been waiting for the perfect time, place, activities to try to schmooze me into loving it. Around here, there is plenty humidity, bugs, snakes, you name it. So my loving camping is going to be a ReAlly hard sell!

  33. I don't camp. I just don't get the point. It's uncomfy, there are bugs everywhere, you have to worry about animals coming for your food. Ugh! I'll camp at the Ritz thank you very much xo
