This past Saturday it was warm enough to open the windows and let in some fresh air. There I was perched on the sofa, working on a blog design, when I heard the most magical sound... yes, the ice cream man was in the hood. I still get excited. The ice cream man is right up there with Santa in my eyes. He preys on my sweet tooth and I react like Pavlov's dog to his musical Heaven on wheels.
Apparently, this gene was passed down to my daughter. I counted to three and right on cue, my daughter and her friends, came piling out of her room yelling, "Mom, the ice cream man is here!" They dashed out the door barefoot, in pursuit of flavored Italian Ice to the sound of my voice yelling, "Get me something!!"
Have you outgrown your love of the ice cream man? What is your favorite treat?

It's always those simple things that bring us the biggest smiles. I still love those red, white, and blue bomb pops.
ReplyDeleteSo cute and I can relate...that familiar sound always rings true to me too and wonderful memories come flooding back. We dont' see him much around here but wherever we might be and if theres one we are quick to indulge! Some things never ever get old. Have a wonderful day, Debby.
ReplyDeletecould you believe i dont really like ice cream?
ReplyDeleteYour post actually made me think of another memory besides the ice cream man (who I loved of course) but there is an old Gary Cooper movie called Saratoga Trunk and in it Ingrid Bergman drank her champange over fresh peaches....I always thought that sounded so elegant! Fun memories!
ReplyDeleteHaha I'm the same exact way! I feel like I'm 5 years old whenever I hear the ice cream man. My heart goes pitter patter :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh what vibrant photos you've shared with us this morning! And yes, hearing the ice cream man coming down the street makes me heart sing, even when I don't buy any ice cream.
ReplyDeleteNo I have not but we've never had one come through this neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteI loved getting the plain old ice cream sandwich - what about you?
Love all the color in your post, reminds me of the nail polish giveaway I've got going :)
Hehe! I'm the same. Ice cream is one of my fave things in the whole world. Love a Mr Whippy with a 99 flake (hope that means the same in the US)!
ReplyDeleteHave a fab Tuesday Hun xoxo

Ahhh, that is so cute. I am probably aging my self, but I remember a truck coming by selling donuts. The truck looked like a woody. It had large drawers in the back of the truck. They would pull them out and you would pick out what donuts you wanted. My daughter loves donuts. She would be in heaven if they had that now.
ReplyDeleteI love the ice cream man! I'm all about the cones. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI don't drink alcohol, but I am definitely a confetti girl all the way.
Memories in the making! We do tend to pass those genes on :) having kids gives us an opportunity to re live all these wonderful moments ... and all the treats!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a girly, fun post. I have not outgrown the giddy feeling I get when I hear the ice cream truck. I love hot fudge sundaes and banana splits.
ReplyDeleteAdorable...love your story!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately the ice cream man never came to my street!
We don't have it in Quebec!

I can remember the bicycle with the box full of ice cream in it, and we would be in the box getting what we wanted. Poor man.
ReplyDeleteThe truck comes by at the beach.
Have happy Tuesday evening, Debby.

Your blog, and especially these Inspirational Girl posts, are a ray of sunshine in my sometimes cloudy days.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Debby.
PS I hope you enjoyed your ice cream. My favourite is pistachio gelato.
I do love the sound of the ice cream man. He was in my neighborhood this weekend, too. Just brings a smile to my face. xo
ReplyDeleteI love the colors in the post! So happy and cheerful and don't we all need a dose of that sometimes?

I can still remember (and taste) the first time I had a Dove Bar! My husband and I were with my parents so that is a great memory! Thanks for helping me to remember that special time!
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in Ireland the ice cream man used to come down the street every night during the warmer months and as soon as I heard him, I'd bolt out the door! :)
