Not that long ago I was accused of being a princess. My reaction? "Well, I AM a princess....duh." I instantly felt a sadness for the accuser that she doesn't consider herself a princess as well. After years of compromising myself in too many situations, and putting myself last on the list, I have come to the conclusion that I deserve no less than the royal treatment.
I actually took her intended insult as a compliment. It shows that I hold myself in high regard, that I am currently unwilling to settle in life, and I am blessed with the gift of having an appreciation for all of the beauty that life holds.
Now I ask you? Are you a princess? If your answer is no, then ask yourself why not? You deserve nothing less than the royal treatment. If you are willing to settle for less than that less is what you will have. Get out there and don your tiara with pride! xoxo

I think you are right! I am totally a princess, well in fact I am a "duchess"... barefoot... but this is also ok, right?
ReplyDeleteI allow no one to treat me less than I expect them to and most definitely I don't put myself last on the list. Maybe second, after hubby, who treats me like I am a queen =)
I AM. You know why dearest? Do you know why we are all princesses, even if we are not rich, beautiful or accomplished? Because God says we are. That is all I need. But it takes faith to KNOW it. You are precious dear one, no matter what has turned out. This life is only a rehearsal. Gosh your photos are stunning. Anita
ReplyDeleteI am a queen!! Not an evil one though...a good one...who is strong and in charge...and I get to eat that cake with all of the princesses!! There is nothing noble about feeling like a pauper and loathing those who hold themselves in higher esteem...the person who said this is missing out on all the fun!
ReplyDeleteFrom one royal to another.....good for you! If we are not going to hold ourselves in this high esteem, who the heck will! Good message.....now let me go find my tiara:)
ReplyDeletePrincess, Queen, I rule the roost around here and I'm treated well for it but it's also a lot of work keeping my peasants happy. It's really a give and take.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day!

Debra~
Good for you! We are all unique, might as well be a princess!
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful message and every girl should hear it. Where it gets troublesome is the image of a princess/queen as tyrant. But someone who knows how she should be treated and requires it, also knows how to treat others well and requires it of herself. Yay for princesses!
ReplyDeleteway to go Debby, you should definitely be considered a princess and be treated as such, we all should! Shame its not always the case!
ReplyDeleteI have been called a princess since I was a wee tot! Maybe its a name us girly girls get called (jealousy???)...but I am quite ok with it.
ReplyDeleteLove this post and good for you Debby. I quess I am a queen my husband has called me that for years.
ReplyDeleteHugs~~~Daphne
Oh Debby, I forgot to tell you how beautiful your photos are, and how much I would love to take a bite of that cake.
ReplyDeleteDaphne
Thanks for a good reminder. I too often feel like the stepsister not the queen! Running a busy household wtih kids, pets and a job does not necessarily lend itself to feeling like a princess, but taking the time out to take care of ourselves is so important and to hold ourselves in a high regard. Good post.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I'm definitely a Princess...just ask my husband!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thursday Hun xoxo

Yes, I am a Princess for sure! My name (Sarah) even means princess in Hebrew! My dad told me that all the time when I was a little girl and I never forget it... or let anyony else forget it. ;)
ReplyDeleteI've never considered myself one, but my guy treats me like one so I can't complain! :)
ReplyDeletedef a princess ;)
ReplyDeleteOf course I am, and so are you, Debby! Agree whole-heartedly!
ReplyDeleteThese images a amazing. The first to die for.
Happy Thursday.

Love it! We all deserve to be princesses:)
ReplyDeleteWe all are, though my husband might say I'm the queen :)
ReplyDeleteI am such a princess it's a joke with all my friends. PS... best princess post ever!
ReplyDeleteI'm not, I'm a bit of a rock and roll Tomboy at heart!
ReplyDeleteI feel like a princess now after your post! Fabulous, Debby, and a wonderful reminder that we all need to be treated like one! Now I'd love a slice of that gorgeous pink cake. Hope your week is going well. XO
ReplyDeletei am always being called a princess since i am the only girl in the house, but as my grandmother always says, i am more the boys cinderella before the glass slipper.
ReplyDeletelol
brett
i always have the same response to princess "accusations!" i am a princess, of course! why wouldn't i be?! and these photos are so so gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWe are ALL Princesses and how sad that your friend doesn't feel worthy of that title. My mom used to tell me that calling my daughter Princess might make her self centered.. hmmm where's the connection?
ReplyDeleteI want to dive into that frosting - yummy ;)
It's so true that we need to believe in ourselves. Lovely photos and the pink iced cake looks delicious and perfect for any princess!!

Love this post. I am a princess, but right now I want to be a queen!
ReplyDeleteI am absolutely royal! I don't think of myself as a princess though, more like a deliciously indulgent countess, somehow the title has always appealed to me more :)
ReplyDeleteI read a quote recently that said: treat yourself like a princess and you will attract a prince!
Haha yes I am! And J tells me so from time to time. And I always say that I deserve to be treated as such :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteI seen a quote somewhere that said "Always walk around like you have on an invisible tiara" and I do! I need those lovely shoes from the second photo.
ReplyDeleteOnce again you have made me rush to write my comment. I get so excited to tell you something. Silly, I know!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever seen the movie " A Little Princess" ? It was made in 1995 so it is a little old but it is about a young girl that doesn't have a mother and her father has to go off to war. She has always been told that she is a princess and she shares that with the other girls at the all girl school! It is one of my favorite, simple movies. The scenery is 1908 New York City. If you get a chance, I imagine that you would really like it and maybe even your daughter would like it. Thanks for the reminder about treating ourselves with dignity and respect!
Like my girlfriend said to me one day 'they can all eat cake'
ReplyDeleteI've been call a princess all my life... and you know what I LOVE IT!!!
Good for you Debby, in reality she elevate you by calling you a princess
You deserve the best and nothing less...
Sonia xo
lol i love this, and your response! damn right we are princesses! Hugs from California! xx,
ReplyDeleteThe Golden Girls
I am without a doubt a princess and always will be! I think some people associate 'princess' with 'prissy' and that's simply not the case, it's as you say, we hold ourselves in high regard as all women should xo
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way, Sara means princess :)
Hell yeah, I'm a princess. I'm a diva too and a broad. I earned the right to be. I consider myself on equal footing with royalty, I deserve just as much respect! I'm going to get myself a tiara. You should too, lol!!
ReplyDeleteyes I am too........ lovely post, have a nice weekend
