I do believe that we can't be entirely happy unless we are true to ourselves. This sometimes means rowing against the current of others expectations of us is entirely necessary. We have one lifetime and it should be spent living out our dream and not someone else's. Can you think of a time in your life where you had to row against the current in order to be happy?

OMG we are SO on the same wavelength today. The sea, the voices of life, and then, the rest in the silence in the crashing waves. BEING TRUE TO YOURSELF. Thank you Debby. Anita
ReplyDeleteThis is so me! Right down to my favorite number-- 33! Love it!
ReplyDeleteYes think we have all been there. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger...oh how I believe that. Those experiences and times did make me much stronger and much more resilient. Love the images.....beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWell, without writing a book in this space, let me just say, that I row against the current every day!! It has developed confidence and strength within me...so I will just keep rowing...any other way would be honestly...BORING.
ReplyDeleteEver since I remember, my life is a constant "against the current". Sometimes I feel guilty because I hurt people I love, but as you said: we have only one lifetime and it should be spent living out our dream and not someone else's...
ReplyDeleteyou are wonderful. Just want you to know that! And I love that dog!!!

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post and how true that we need to be true to ourselves. thanks for sharing and love the photos :)

I think I've been going against the current since high school. But it's so true that you can't live your life to please others or you'll be miserable. Lovely pics :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I were strong enough to be wholly true to myself, but I have an overwhelming fear of being perceived as having bad manners or looking out of place. I do envy those who couldn't care less what people think of them. Maybe when I'm 80 I'll be that way too! :)
ReplyDeleteYour pictures...so lovely!
Oh, I am so in love with this post! I love Walt and I love Kate and I adore beaches and the ocean. Sigh. You have me dreaming.

So many of my favorites mentioned in this post! We have a lot in common girlfriend!
ReplyDeleteo how this post made me want to book an east coast flight... and a plan a preppy summer vaca! Well this has been my entire YEAR... these days there are such high expectations for college grads to land high paying jobs and follow the "normal" path of a 9-5 job, in a cubicle, crunching numbers... but in return receiving large paycheck. I have decided to pursue what I LOVE and my dream of design... its scary to go against the grain of the "norm" (especially being a business major)... but I just keep telling myself that if I mix a bit of belief in myself with determination and a happy attitude... my dream will become a reality! Lovely post :) Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteDebby,
ReplyDeleteLife is all about change. Letting things roll off your back, going with it, de-cluttering, getting rid of those "weeds" as you say :) and staying true to yourself. As a "mature" woman I will say that time or the process of aging, has mellowed me and allowed me to focus on the important things in life, focusing on all that I have - rather than what I don't. I've learned to stop the negative thinking and accept what is. People are inherently good although things happen that may change their view of life. Stay on track and relish in what is good in your life.
Have a wonderful weekend!

I pinned the pup staring into the ocean too. So sweet. I think that's what I must look like sometimes. A bit ruffled and scrappy but calmly staring out into the sea. Love today's post. A great reminder to be who we are and no one else.
ReplyDeleteOh I like this post. Absolutely we must row against the current at times, especially when chasing a dream, but it's so worth it!
ReplyDeleteGreat post, I find myself rowing against the tides right now but as your post says I must stay true to myself. As always your words are inspiring.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely have to make yourself happy before you can make others truly happy. Gorgeous post, Debby! Have a great weekend :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteI think if you are living life in this world there will times that you will be rowing against the current, it is called real life. As far as being happy, I think we all have moments of happiness and moments of sadness, but to maintains life that feels fulfilled we need to have inner joy and for me personally that comes from my heavenly father. I know you have an inner peace and joy that gets you through the tough times. Keep rowing sweet girl you will reach your shore!! Happy weekend, Kathysue
ReplyDeleteI love your new blog look, Debbie - hope you're well.
