"Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing." ~ Ben Franklin
Last month represented two years of blogging for me. 612 posts later, I have found myself again. What began as a creative outlet, is now not only a form of self expression, but also a hell of a lot cheaper than therapy. When my world around me was crumbling, finding my voice has helped save me.
Sure, I get writer's block. I find myself asking does anyone care what I ate for lunch or that I drove down to my son's college for the gazillionth time this year?! Of course not - I don't even care. Thank you for sticking with me even when the posts were lame. The best part of blogging by far has been embracing the blog community. I think of you all as extended family and I value the friendships I have formed. I always say bloggers have the biggest hearts, and if you blog yourself, than you know this to be true. To state it simply... you are my happy.
If you too are a blogger what is your favorite part about blogging? Do you feel blogging has helped you connect with yourself more?

Congratulations on two years! As a new blogger myself, I am very inspired by what you have to say each day! Thank you, thank you!

Happy 2 years anniversary debby! Yes, blogging has helped me find my style, my decoration type and my self as well! Feelings come and go and blogging is a great exercise to identify them; before i could have not even noticed something was happening inside of me... Is well known that writing clears your mind and being forced to do it daily is a great exercise.
ReplyDeleteDebbie, you are so right! Bloggers do have such big hearts.. Love this post!
ReplyDeleteBlogging has given me a focus, but even more it's made me realize I am not alone that there are other dreamers out there chasing the creative life, some succeeding and others so close that it's just a fingertip away, sharing their stories and inspiring me to stay on course. The single most wonderful thing that I've gleaned from blogging is my love and passion for photography.
ReplyDeleteI'm so thankful I discovered your blog, Debbie, the images and words have inspired me more than you will ever know.
Wishing you many more years of blogging bliss!
PS..it's never lame to take the ordinary and make it extraordinary
YES!!! YES!!! Blogging has certainly been and continues to be a way of connecting with who I am becoming and the life I am creating. Just this week, I felt the warm hug of BlogLand friends .. and yes some people (such as yourself) have become extended family.. whom I often think off (off computer) and hope are doing well.
ReplyDeleteContinue to write from the heart and you will always be helping and touching someone's life in a very positive way. xo C. (HHL)
I have been reading your blog for about a month. I found out about it in the February issue of Romantic Homes. I look forward to reading your blog--it's as rich and delicious as a Godiva truffle. Please keep doing what you do because your blog brings so much beauty and wonderful inspiration into my life. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteP.S. What you do is important! Believe that!
Congratulations on two years! That is a big accomplishment. My favorite part of blogging is interacting with fellow bloggers, people that I might not have otherwise met.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 2 years and here's hopping for many, many more! Your posts are like therapy to me too, excellent! And yes, I just love the blogging community...you mean the world to me!
ReplyDeleteAnd yum "follower of God" Godiva truffles are my very favorite chocolate delight!
Getting my world in words makes me come down.

I soooooo agree with all you said, but first congrats on 2 years! Wow..thats something. I know I love visiting you every morning and my blogland rounds would not be the same without my "Inspired design" daily dose. You have expressed yourself honestly, authentically and poignantly through your blog and I appreciate that.
ReplyDeleteSo agree its all those many connections we make that makes this so darn much fun! I mean its Sat. afternoon one year ago I would have been out shopping, but what am I doing? On my comp blogging..lol.
The connections and ability to have a voice and have it validated by our readers/supporters/friends is priceless. Keep on doing what you do...heres to many many more years of blogging bliss!
YES. I have reconnected to who I really am to the point of making a huge decision: TO QUIT MY JOB.
ReplyDeleteThe rest will follow. But what I have enjoyed the most are the people I have met along the way, though we may never meet. Yes, to me, words are worth a 1000000000000 memories.
WE LOVE YOU DEBBY. Anita
I love to share and to talk with so many friends I have made since I started blogging. It is just one big happy family! Well we are not happy all of the time, but we are supportive!
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Debby.

Congrats! What a great milestone. I agree, blogging truly is a great cheap form of therapy. Sometimes I feel the same, "does anyone even care?", but I assure you, what you do matters and it does touch people!

Happy Anniversary and well done on keeping such an open honest flow of posts.
ReplyDeleteI too love the 'community' of bloggers - that warm embrace of friendly and familiar faces popping up through emails and comments. It's the interaction, the genuine support and the heart-felt caring that touches me the most.
I go in and out of blog-drive, but find that my readers and visitors are loyally there - an unconditional group of true and wonderful friends.
Here's to a wonderful virtual world and all that happy happy that keep it spinning.
Smiles and happy weekend wishes from Sweden.

ReplyDeleteDebby,
ReplyDeleteYour honesty and sincerity shows in your writing. I so admire the way you just put yourself out there! Still new to the world of blogging, it's been tough for me to do that. Every time I hit PUBLISH I feel a little nervous. Will someone be offended, judge me, disagree?? Fact is there is always someone that doesn't like you and hopefully those weedy folks will just move on.
I told myself I'd try blogging for a year to see if I felt I was getting enough out of it to keep putting the time in. My family has said that I spend too much time on the computer considering I have zero financial gain to be had. I say that it's a great social outlet and it's forcing me to stay current in the crazy computer world we all live in. OR... perhaps I should spend more time picking up the house and cooking?
Have a wonderful weekend :)

Debby, I have learned a few things about how I process through blogging. The best part has been connecting with people like YOU. I have the wonderful experience of meeting bloggers that I only knew through cyber space and I can not tell how thrilling that has been to me. Recently I met a reader that knew me, through blogging, but I did not know her, that was pretty cool too. I too, feel at times of quitting, but I go back to my mission statement and it reminds me of why I blog. As long as people are reading it, I will write! xo Kathysue
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! - and to say I love your blog! Always so beautiful, uplifting and thought provoking. I am beyond impressed. You have accomplished both Franklin's options. His sentence I must think on and remember and try to achieve myself - somehow. Thank you as always!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! No doubt the friendships have been the best part...also all of the research helps me be better at what I do...it's been great for my career. XO, Mona
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on two years! You do such a nice job and I feel safe in saying that I bet YOUR blog is therapy for many people! I tell my journalism students often that writing is therapy for just about anything! I know that it has helped me so much in transitioning into an empty nest and new phase of life! Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteThat's the beauty of blogging, we all do care about the 'mundane' in your life..we are your blog friends!! I have never once read a lame post written by you. As a matter of fact, sometimes I pass over the words on people's blog posts if I don't find them interesting but I always love to hear what you have to say.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the two years!!

I've been blogging for an unknown amount of years (lol) but consistently (mostly) for the past few years. All of the comments from your wonderful readers capture the reasons why I blog (and read blogs). The blogging community is a wonderful group - accepting and supportive. I love sharing bits and pieces of my life. And it helps me practice writing on a regular basis! I subscribe to you blog and it is one of the ones that I enjoy the most. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blog, one of my favorites....I especially loved the Garden Club post, poignant for what I am dealing with right now....I blog for self expression and it is a creative outlet for me alone....but the great women I have met because of it is priceless. Your blog is lovely and never lame!! N.xo

Congratulations Debby on your continued sucess! I've said it many times before and I'll say it again "Bloggers are the Best"! I'm coming up on my two years as well and I wouldn't have missed these last two years for anything.

Debra~
Actually, you almost always have thought-provoking posts, Debby! You're right, it is so wonderful when you begin to blog and find all these other soul mates out there, who are fascinated my the same things you are. I think blogging has helped me to define myself as I re-emerged from several years of being home with my children. Much cheaper and also much more entertaining than therapy! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteYour "Inspired Design" has inspired me to be more expressive in own blogging. Your pictures have inspired me to take that additional step in being more creative. So thank you for sharing your world, and feelings, and experiences with the rest of us who may have needed that inspiration. You're still one of my favorite bloggers.

Two years Debby! And I think I'm been following you pretty much from the beginning and that makes me smile :)
ReplyDeleteI love to blog as a creative outlet. Sometimes my head is swimming with so many inspirational things from fashion, travel, food, and places to visit to art, theatre, dance, and photography... I need somewhere to put it so it's not keeping me up at night!!
ReplyDeleteMay I say that your blog is always a source of stunning inspiration for moi!
