I remember as a kid my sister and I would "invent" recipes and dare each other to try it. This usually involved some disgusting concoction of ingredients that should NEVER go together. My infinity for the game remains but now I am on the hunt for ingredients that blend perfect and add a bit of zest to the ordinary. I joke with my daughter that I should open a sandwich shop because I am always coming up with new and easy sandwiches.
This is a simple twist on a classic grilled cheese and it's super easy to make. I promise if you try it you will love it! All you need is good Cinnamon Raisin Bread, Brown Sugar Ham, American Cheese, + Honey Mustard... Viola lunch is served!
I came across the lovely Kate Spade inspired napkins on Tumblr and I think I will give them a try. I already have the gold paint and the stencils. I think they would be perfect for an Easter brunch or Girls Night In. I'll let you know how they come out.
What is your favorite sandwich to whip up?

Oh this reminds me of the sandwich concoctions I would invent for my MOTHER when I was a child. And she would eat them even if my little 5 year old mind would put pepper on lettuce and butter and other strange combinations!!!!! But yours here are REAL GOODNESS combined with a WISE and mature intent! That honey mustard sounds delicious!

I LOVE grilled cheese sandwiches, and I'd tell you mine except I'm entering it into the 2012 Grilled Cheese Recipe Contest. You should definitely submit your recipe. Mmmm.. that sandwich actually sounds really good! I think I'll try one tonight. Since you like trying new food, you probably won't think this is too crazy, although most people give me a strange look when I tell them that I love fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. It's made sort of like a grilled cheese: you just make a regular pb&j sandwich, melt butter in a skillet and cook the sandwich like you would a grilled cheese-- until the bread is nice and toasty and the peanut butter is warm and wonderfully gooey. Try it-- I think you'll like it!
ReplyDeleteI've been away from the computer for a while-- spring break with my kiddo, etc. and I've missed you! But I'm back now and getting my Inspired Design fix again!
I hope all is well and that you're enjoying your week!

Debby, I just got in from work and that sandwich looks so good I'm tempted to run out to get some raisin bread to make one! Those Kate Spade napkins are so cute and cheery for spring time. I've been grilling Turkey Havarti or making Tuna Melts - with butter!
ReplyDeleteLeslie :)
Hey Debby! I still have absolutely no appetite but I wish I did! I miss wanting my yummy food even though I always struggled with it as well. I think after this experience I'll face my favorite foods with a lot more appreciation and gusto!

This sandwich sounds scrumptious! I will have to try it! One of my favorites is turkey, melted brie and thinly sliced pears or apples. It is so delicious. I adore those Kate Spade napkins! Let us know if you try making some, Debby.
ReplyDeleteI'm always in the mood for sandwich ideas and I love those napkins!
ReplyDeleteThat sandwich sounds absolutely delicious! If I could actually find cinnamon raison bread and brown sugar ham here I would make it, but I'm going to do my best to remember it for when I'm back in the States because it sounds really really good!
ReplyDeleteLately, my favorite sandwich is grilled eggplant and peppers tossed with loads of a garlicky balsalmic and olive oil vinaigrette on a baguette. Tasty and healthy! :)
that sounds yummy
ReplyDeletegoing to have to try this out
