Simply Smitten: Bewitching Provence

via

I recently picked up, A Year In Provence, by Peter Mayle. Have you read it? Who hasn't dreamt of picking up and moving to an old farmhouse in the heart of Provence or a villa in Tuscany? Until I get up the nerve, I will have to live vicariously through Peter's book and my friend Sara of, Sara in le Petit Village. Sara fell in love, and followed her boyfriend, (now husband), back to his petit village in Provence. She shares her her charming little life with an uncanny ability to always leave me chuckling. What I really want to know is when Sara's book is coming out?!

  2. These pictures have me dreaming mighty early this morning.....its no accident that I have watched Under the Tuscan Sun a gazillion times...who doesn't dream of doing that! The images really "took me away" to a beautiful and calm scenic place. Yes, read A year in Provence and actually bought it for my mom to read too, she loved it as well. Its a good reminder to cherish the earthly pleasures.......which we all have around us though NY is NO Provence:)

  3. I have read all his books, hillarious. i would recommend another book: from here you can't see Paris. it is amusing, well written , a travelog os sorts of one family spending a couple of years in a tiny village in the South West of France (my part of France) and of course "Under the Tuscan Sun..."

  4. A Year in Provence is on my list of favorite reads. Did you know Peter Mayle also wrote some iconic books for children including Where Did I Come From? I read this book to my children when they asked that all-important question.

Beautiful photos that have me dreaming of living in Europe.

  12. I had to save these fabulous pics. What could be more inspiring than walking through a lavender field or, better, drinking a delicious tea surrounded by these beauties, smelling its perfume?

  13. If you love A Year In Provence, you should read another book of Peter Mayle, Toujour Provence. It is equally as witty and continues in the always hilarious stories of his travels and interesting neighbhors. I'm in the middle of it and adore it. Its also great for traveling because if you don't have time to sit down and read each chapter is its own story. Lovely!

Anyway, can you enter me into the lovely bracelet giveaway? The bracelet i would choose would be, " golden pecan ". They're so beautiful! Even if I don't win, this would make a nice gift.

  26. Oh Provence! I loved Peter Mayle's book and even though I was only in my early teens when I read it I couldn't wait for the day that I could retire to the fields of lavender.
