Men Are Like A Box Of Chocolates

"There are only three things in life that matter. Good friends, good chocolate, and oh dear, what was the other one?"  Unknown

Men are like a box of chocolates and you never know what's inside until you select one. Some are fruity, some full of liquer, and a some are just too nutty. I recently talked to a friend who realized her latest "chocolate" selection had a center that was completely nuts, (he's since gotten the axe). Her solution? She decided she need some shopping therapy, a few more designers in her life, and the only two men she's depending on at the moment are Ben + Jerry.

This same friend never fails to show up with chocolates when things look glum for either one of us. We sit on the couch and carefully make our selections while we ponder all of lives mysteries. Good friends and good chocolate are powerful, they both have the ability to lift us up.

Are you a chocoholic? What is your favorite brand or variety of chocolate?

  2. teeheeeee.......

I was just LUCKY ENOUGH at a young age to pinch just the right chocolate and find with with a smooth and sweet center that has never disappointed. But prior to him, I picked a few NUT CENTERED ones that either broke a tooth or left a bitter taste in my mouth!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For now, I LOVE fine French cocoa powder in my morning yogurt. YEP, I can get my love jones satisfied DAILY while I try to keep my hips under control!!!!!!!!

LOVE IT DEBBY, and come see me for a bit.....Anita

  11. Ha! Yes they are! I love my man, I love my chocolate. My man love chocolate more than me, to be honest, so he's the one always buying it for us.

  14. Absolutely! Growing up in Belgium made me a bit of a chocolate snob but Trader Joe's makes a 1-pound Beligian dark chocolate with whole almonds that is delicious! If in Europe, my favorite is Jeff de Bruges (oh how I wish someone would start importing this brand!). Have a great weekend, Cynthia

  16. LOL... Love your post. Your title said it all. Maybe sticking to the variety box is best for now... A little of this and a little of that. You'll eventually find the one you keep reaching for again and again. ;) Enjoy your weekend, Debby!

  18. Dark chocolate, caramel with chocolate {and salt}, marshmellow with chocolate - I like it all. When it comes to men, I think we've all experienced a nut or two that we haven't liked. Sometimes you try it (eat half) and toss it (dump him) because it's just not right (for you) and that's the way the cookie crumbles!!

Always enjoy your posts Debby! Have a great weekend :)

  20. I love a simple Belgian chocolate bar called Cote d' Or, however my Doctor just put me on a Low Sodium diet. In my search for an acceptable alternative, I came across Dark European ChocoPerfection bars. They just arrived in the mail today, and although I know there's no replacement for the real thing, I'm happy to have found something with zero sugar, zero sodium, 14 grams of fiber, and decent reviews - We'll see!

  22. LOVE!! LOVE this post ... and so right a good friend and chocolate what more could an independent, living life to max gal need? :) .... Over the past 5 1/2 years my desire for chocolate has actually turned to sipping chocolate ... but before that good quality milk chocolate was my poison of choice!! Now if I have a piece of chocolate it's dark and small. happy week-end my friend..xo HHL

  26. Debby,

Sounds like you'd enjoy my humorous (and delicious!) relationship advice book, Men Are Like a Box of Chocolates.

The e-book version was free on Amazon.com last week but, unfortunately, you just missed out. It's only $2.99 though!

Or you could order a charming signed copy from my website, ellyklein.com.

Lovely blog you have here! Nice work.
