The Power Of Positive

If you have zest and enthusiasm you attract zest and enthusiasm. Life does give back in kind.

Change your thoughts and you change your world.

Empty pockets never held anyone back. Only empty heads and empty hearts can do that.

If you paint in your mind a picture of bright and happy expectations, you put yourself into a condition conducive to your goals.

I love these quotes by Norman Vincent Peale. Some people are naturally positive. For everyone else, positivity is a choice. What happens when we begin to wean out any negativity from our lives? We attract only positive results and positive people. It's amazing how negative people all huddle together to commiserate. Positive people are too busy making things happen and enjoying their lives. What is your best tip for staying positive?

  3. Good morning dearest. OH YES, how a positive attitude can change ANYTHING! I like to think I am a positive person, and I am. But in the last school year, new challenges always challenge my nature and it is TOO EASY to be negative. SO, gotta march in there with my high heels and baubles and smile and laugh at the sometimes ridiculous parts of my day and move on. There really is much MORE to be living for!!! HAPPY DAY! Anita

  7. Thirty minutes to myself in the morning and a cup of coffee keeps me positive about life. I also have come to a stage in my life that I only hang with those who seem comfortable in their own skin. Leaning on each other but finding a way through the muck of life.

  8. For the last couple of years my mantra was "this too shall pass", everytime life threw me a curve ball , my first reaction was to wallow in self misery, then i woke up one day and decided that i could beat it, i could take everything in a positive way or stay negative and depressed! So, dear Debby, this too shall pass..xo

  9. You are right, Debby...it so often is a choice to be joyful. I choose to live one day at a time...I choose joy no matter what I face this day...I choose to not give negativity a foothold and stop it the minute it appears. Unfortunately, I have also chosen to avoid some people who feed on negativity...I changed a lunch group because of this...hard choices but necessary for my state of mind!

  10. Beautiful way to start the day! merci... I am 98% the glass is always half FULL ... but that 2% can sometimes be very heavy and dark. You are so right, positive energy attracts positive energy ... One of the things I love about your writing ... no matter what you show both sides and I believe you always choose positive... Blessing my friend, xo HHL

  11. Lots of inspiration here. I think our blogs help us be positive people too! You do have to surround yourself with positive people. My downfall is politics, haha. Difficult to find it there.
    Love your posts, Debby.

  12. i;m one of those naturally positive people - i use to have 1 person in my life who JUST ran off negativity - and all she wanted was everyone to be miserable around her - well i finally had the courage to END the 'friendship' of almost 25 years b/c it's something that;s not pretty to be around - now i ONLY have positivity around me -

  13. Love this, Deb! You are such a positive person and a source of such light. I hope you realize how much you touch your readers with your words, optimism and warmth. It is, of course, healthy to be down at times, and you've certianly been through yucky stuff (from what you've shared). But I find that prayer and focusing on my blessings (especially the small ones I tend to take for granted...like the luxury of complaining about a too-full tummy) keep me up and focused on passing along the love. xo

  14. I agree with this and am trying consistently to implement it in my daily life! I've been writing down goals/dreams I'd like to achieve - no matter how far-fetched they may seem. I have to believe they can happen because I'm going to do everything in my power to make them happen. :)

  17. My grandpa is the best example of living with a positive mind! I hope one day I'll get there, though I can be quite optimisic. Thanks for the inspirational mindset, hope you have a lot of it yourself too:)

  20. These quotes are fabulous! I like to look at everything in a positive light. My teenage years weren't very easy so I've been told that I learned how to compartmentalize very well to help deal with any negativity that comes along. Once something's done I put it away in a box and get it out of my life. No point in bringing me or the people around me down :) xoxo

  32. Thanks for such an "on point", beautiful, true, and inspiring post! One question: How does one stay positive and handle negative people in their immediate (nuclear) family (not the extended family who, by the way, are more positive than the nuclear family)? I mean, you can totally divorce yourself from your nuclear family members. Thanks.

  33. Correction to above comment: I meant that you "can't" , instead of you "can" totally divorce your nuclear family.

  34. Perfect quotes to keep me focused on the positive side of life!! But I am chuckling at your comment about all the negative people huddled together. It gave me an instant visual that at once made me laugh and never want to join that huddle!!!

I lean toward the positive and happy. But, I think surrounding yourself with the people and things that lift you up is always key.

And, you are so right. You get what you give!

  35. Debbie darling,
Great post and I love the proverbs! I am a happy person who focuses on the positive in life. I also count my blessings and take nothing for granted. You have a wonderful attitude for life , regardless of the hard times you may be currently going through...I adore you and look forward to meeting one day. You are the best!

  38. Truth in the quotes! A negative attitude, or being around someone that complains constantly (nothing ever goes right for them or they believe that goodness happens only to lucky people) is a total drain and zaps the energy we all need to find daily happiness. We all go through ups and downs. I think some folks are wired to cope and are resilient, while others never seem to recover from difficult life experiences. Overall, I think people need to toughen up a bit and stop making excuses.

    Enjoy your evening Debby!

  40. I try to live by that - when bad things happen I just try to actively make the choice to be positive. It's not always easy, but I think it keeps you healthy in mind and body. My family itself has been good this year, but in my outside environment there has been horrible tragedy that I still can't wrap my head around. I just have to stay positive, and I think you just can't dwell on the horrible.

My car was broken into the other night too - it's a violation of privacy - but I just can't dwell on it. It will drive me crazy if I think of the thief going through and helping himself to my property. It's also really so little in the big picture of life.

Anyway - I guess my answer is that it takes effort sometimes, but is important to always be aware of how truly blessed I am. That puts things in perspective and makes it much easier to be positive and thankful.

  42. I give thanks to God for 3 things everyday ... I try to appreciate what I am and the people I have around and just feel that there is so much I have to give back to life.. whenever I feel that negativism is coming I put myself on other people shoes... and I always end up appreciating and being positive of my world

  43. Like Karla, I thank God for the life he has given me, and for everything beautiful in it. I tend to be a very positive person, always, but to stay positive, I take joy in little things :)
