Color Soiree: Grey & Red

 123+5, 4
Red is an emotionally charged color and is always good to wear when you don't wish to sink into the background. It only takes a small pop of red in decor to create a strong impact. Grey is a great companion and is proof that opposites attract. Calming grey flatters, but allows red to take center stage. This dynamic reminds me of many couples I know. One partner is more outgoing, charismatic, humorous or simply just full of themselves! The other partner may be more of an intellect and quiet by nature, uncomfortable with being the center of attention, happy to just sit back and observe the antics of their significant other. Somehow, it just works. Balance is a beautiful thing.

What color do you reach for when you want to stand out in the crowd? Do you know any couples like the ones I described? Perhaps you yourself are in a similar relationship. If so, what role do you play?

  2. Ah yes, red with GRAY is what I can do. For me, RED in the décor is too much. I am affected by it and it makes me nervous!!! But red is a great color to wear when you need to WORK and zip around the hallways like I do!!!! I have an ABERCROMBIE red jacket that looks great with gray pants. HAVE FUN MY FRIEND! Anita

  9. Debby,
One of my favorite of your posts! I do love red, but find that over the years I've shied away. Not sure why. Pairing it with gray is a brilliant idea - one bold, one subdued.

And, yes...a great comparison to couples. Balance is a funny thing and I think we seek it even when we don't realize it.

Speaking of gray....that's what it is here today. This brightened my day!!

  10. Balance really is a beautiful thing. My husband and I are a little that way (though neither of us is full of themselves). I love gray and red, and red or pink would be a color to go to if I wanted to stand out a little bit or was feeling a little bolder than usual.
Its very gray this way today..so red might be a great choice!
    Enjoy your day Debby...

  11. I'm definitely the red one in my relationship. ;) I love how you've demonstrated that red can be powerful or just a refreshing pop in certain pairings. That red coat in the first pic is wonderful. And I am loving tall textured socks with boots right now! Such a great fall/winter look and inherently cozy.

  12. Loving that red Fiat! I used to have quite a bit of red in my home but it has slowly dwindled. I still love it though. My wardrobe is much more subdued - I guess I just don't like all the attention. So, I would say I'm the grey person and my guy is the red :)

  15. that red coat ... sigh!

I think we both play that part, i.e. we share it. Sometimes I like being in the background and sometimes I like to shine ;-)

  26. Gray and black is a wonderful combination! I don't wear red often....maybe Christmas and Valentine's Day but when I am feeling a little more bold I love a bright red pop of color in my favorite red lipstick. I think red is a classy color. I need to go in search of those textured gray socks for my boots. Love those!

  27. you're so right debby! opposites attract! that's why i love pairing purple dresses with major gold jewelry together when i feel like breaking the norm(; and the same does go for couples! one way to prove it is to think, what would it be like if i dated someone just like me?? that answer is scary for most people!

i love your ever inspiring pictures!

    glitteringly and positively, raeshelle!
