Sand Castles

via 1, 2 3, 5 +6, 4
I have never outgrown my love of building sand castles. If there is a group of kids on the beach, you'll find me right smack dab in the middle digging and sculpting with the rest of them.  Someday I hope to build a real sand castle that overlooks the ocean. I envision morning strolls on the beach, magnificent sunsets in the evening, lobster bakes with loved ones, and falling asleep to the sound of waves crashing outside my bedroom window. Would you love to live on the beach? If you are lucky enough to already do so... what is your favorite part about it?

  3. I love every single photo here. I am one of these lucky people living on the beach and I absolutely love it - I love falling asleep to the sound of the ocean, waking up with a beautiful view that makes me feel I am on vacation every single day, running on the beach and taking leisure strolls in the evening, specially on a very hot humid day when all you want to do is jump straight into the ocean.

  15. I'm not a beach person, but if I had to, I would like to live by a cold beach, with lots of fog and rain (Am I the only one weird around here? I guess I am, I live in Utah, sill wearing boots, scarf and 4 layers of clothes) I guess I'm used to the cold lol!
    Have a fantastic day!

  21. These images float my little sea-loving boat! I live in a town near the water...and could really use some sea-faring updates.

Love the ocean and the beach...and building sandcastles!

  22. You got me at the third picture staring out over the top of my computer to a view of... unfortunately not the sea! My castle would be Diane Keaton's home in Something's Gotta Give somewhere on the coast of Rhode Island!

  25. I'm definitely right there with the kids making castles! My favorite part of a home near the beach would be having that office, although I don't know how productive I'd be.

  27. Love this post, as I've already been dreaming about the beautiful upcoming Hamptons summer! You post title brought me back to when my brother and I were little kids playing on the beach. My brother entered a sand castle building contest and won with his amazing mermaid castle...I wonder if my mom has photos of his wonder? We don't live on the ocean in the Hamptons (very few do!) but we live not far from the water! My summer favorites: smelling the salt air, hearing the waves crash on-shore, walking with my barefeet along the beach, building sandcastles or digging in the sand with my children, taking outdoor showers (every single day, pure bliss!) and al fresco dining on our deck. Now that you have me smiling ear to ear, I really can't wait to welcome summer!

  30. I have been dreaming of blue and white, of linen, of carelessly rumpled ticking stripes and undone sandy bedsheets - I love this post. Hamptontoes - Although I live in the city, I too am so looking forward to Hamptons season! xo
