"Better keep yourself clean and bright; you are the window through which you must see the world."
~George Bernard Shaw
Confession: I was the student always staring out the window in class. I still do it. I always choose the seat near a window whether it be at a restaurant, airport, or doctor's waiting room. The first thing I do upon entering a hotel room is throw open the room darkening blinds to explore the view and let in the light. Some would say it's the dreamer inside but I think it is more about staying connected to the world.
You know that feeling you step outside and you notice the clouds or see a sliver of the moon? You feel miniscule... part of a bigger plan... your problems become minor in the scheme of things. It's the same for me when I view life through a window. The buzz of a city viewed from a hotel window or the first blossom on a pear tree viewed through the kitchen window help to remind me that there is a whole world out there just waiting to be appreciated and lived to the fullest.
Do you stare out windows too?

Wonderful. Light beaming in every room of this exquisite post dearest. Love to you today, Anita
ReplyDeleteI'm exactly the same!! I was always in trouble for staring out the window & dreaming instead of paying attention in class. Now I know I was just trying to ponder the bigger picture ;-)

Always! I can't imagine living without a lot of windows and light around me.
ReplyDeleteI'm OBSESSED with black windows- like I really want to paint all of mine. That first kitchen is amazing!!
ReplyDeleteLove that window seat with the baskets of books! Windows are great - just wish we had more sunshine!
ReplyDeleteIf I could wake up and cook in the first kitchen, I would be one happy woman! All of these images with their neutrals tones are so beautiful, Debby!

I so agree. That's one of my favorite aspects of my home is lots of natural light comes in through the large windows. Definitely a plus in my book!! Have a great weekend, Debby ~
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. I love lots of natural light. It gives me the feeling of being very connected to this big world and also does wonders for my mood!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny you mention windows. Now that my desk is facing one, I can't believe I looked at a wall for so long! And, whenever I'm on a plane, I always request the window seat....not too comfortable if I can't see out.
ReplyDeleteI think we're all craving some sunlight these days. Hope you have lots of it this weekend!
