Happy Halloween

The pumpkins have been carved,  the pumpkin seeds roasted,  the spooky Halloween CD is in the Bose, and the candy has been purchased, {I apologize in advance for the shortage of Reese's... seems likemy sweet tooth got the better of me}.
All of this pumpkin business has me in the mood for some pumpkin soup.  This recipe is sure to warm up your little ghosts and goblins before they head out into the cold.  For those of you who celebrate Halloween... enjoy!
Now I am off to Trick or Tweet!

Girl has Style

This is my idea of black polish for Halloween... if only I could pull off the beret.
So very chic.   Hats just do not work for me... so I am left to admiring them from afar.
Are you a hat person?

Fashion Meets Decor

BCBG has the most gorgeous lookbooks!  I love the glamorous and seductive feel these images evoke.
 If only I could dine by candlelight at that gorgeous table amongst friends.  The lights, the candles... all that's needed is Carla Bruni's lovely voice in the background, {even music sounds better in French}!!
So do tell... what is your favorite background music for creating ambiance?

Wishing you all a most wonderful weekend. xoxo

Color Soiree ~ Yellow & Gray

I came across more yellow and gray and since it is my current obsession, (hence the new blog design),
I just had to share them.  The coat is from Ruche - I may just forget about the Camel coat I've been coveting and order this coat from Ruche.  I told Maddog, (a.k.a. hubby),  I am currently obsessed with yellow and gray and he said, "Yes, I read that in your blog."  (awwww... he reads it... brownie points)!!   Then I said, "You know, you may come home one day and my entire wardrobe could be yellow and gray."  (No response - probably adding up what this new obsession of mine is going to cost him).   He then responded with, "I like yellow too, see I'm wearing a Bruins shirt."  (Silly rabbit... a Bruin's shirt doesn't count)!  He's a real "guy's guy" who just so happened to marry a true "girly girl" but he makes an effort to make our interests "common interests."  For this.... I am grateful.. it's the small things in life don't you think?
So did I convert you yet?  Are you loving yellow and gray?  What is your color obsession of the
moment?

Sarah Jessica Meets Mini

I nearly died from delight when I spotted this little fashionista of a Mini Cooper.  My mind immediately raced to of all the things I could do to "pimp out" my Mini.  I was brought back to earth with thoughts of parking my Cooper at the Market in my suburban town, or picking up my daughter from school.   I could rock the Dior tee though... (I'd have to swap the fun purple skirt for jeans... that skirt would cause many disapproving stares in the freezer section as well).
If only I could be Carrie Bradshaw for a day...big sigh.   I think, (or certainly hope),  there is a bit of Carrie in all of us just waiting to shine.

Boutique Crush {Ada & Darcy}

When Aussie blogger, Kellie Collis, announced she was opening her online boutique, Ada + Darcy, I just knew it would be amazing!  Well, she really blew me away with her array of candy colored decor.  Her lovely shop makes me want to paint my entire house the most perfect shade of pink
 and just revel in girly glory.  The best part?  She ships internationally!
I think I hear some lampshades calling my name....

Raspberry Beret

She wore a raspberry beret, the kind you find in a second hand store.  {Yes, I'm
quoting Prince.. I was just testing you to see if you'd notice}
I am loving the splashes  of raspberry throughout these interiors.  It's a little punch of
happiness.
Taylor is adorable sporting her raspberry beret.  I wonder if she was singing
Prince lyrics as she was getting dressed?

Get Your Fur On

Give yourself a big pat on the back... you made it ~ it's Friday, Sweeties!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend planned, even if it just includes some cozy downtime
at home with a movie and popcorn.  Fake fur is the fashion trend of the moment ~ how do you
feel about it in decor?  I personally love it for the cooler months.  A fur throw at the end of your bed
or thrown over a chair just adds a bit of luxury to any room!

I just want to give a big welcome to my new readers and if I by chance missed visiting your blog, be
sure to introduce yourself so I can come say hello!

Under the Tuscan.... Recipe?

Perhaps I've seen Under the Tuscan Sun one too many times,  but who doesn't fantasize about trading it
all in for a simpler lifestyle.  Imagine,  a charming villa set within the beautiful Tuscan countryside.  I would grow olives and spend the days outdoor with the sun caressing my shoulders while my dogs run carefree nearby.  I would learn the language and make friends with the locals, absorb the culture, becoming entwined into it until it was a became a part of who I was.   Hey, a girl can dream... until then I can make roasted olives. This is such a quick and simple recipe and is a wonderful appetizer to accompany cheese and bread sticks.  My daughter likes them so much, she'll often walk to the store with her friend and you can be sure they always have olives upon arrival.  Olives aren't just for martinis... who knew?!  Here is the recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups assorted green and black olives
  • Zest of 1 orange, cut into long, thin strips
  • 1⁄4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1⁄4 tsp. dried chili flakes
  • Salt, to taste

Directions:

Warm olive oil in a saute pan add olives when warm.  Sprinkle with orange zest, chili flakes, salt and pepper to taste.  Stir occasionally to evenly coat and cook until heated through approximately 3-4 minutes.  Enjoy!
Side note:  I prefer to use only green olives I think they are much more flavorful than the black.

P.S.  Olive you!  {Couldn't resist the cheesy joke}
